incredible what a few hours of sleep can do. i'm quite refreshed again and will now take frank's offer to sleep at his place, in his bed. he's one of the people with the project deadline tomorrow so he won't be sleeping at all tonight and is therefore leaving his bed to me. a real bed! coooool! looks like i'll have a good night of sleep ahead of me. but first: eric just gave me some more experimental black and white shots he took with his new nikon fm, an old, fully mechanical and really sweet slr camera.

i'm turning into one of these outdoorsy vancouver types! next thing you know i'll go for hikes and camping back home as well. not likely to happen i think ;-) i'm meeting with eddy and hendrik at 1pm today to start renovations so time to get nine hours of sleep. g'night.

sunday, april 28th 2002, 8pm

ufff. feeling kind of rough these days. i'm currently homeless and wandering the city. fun, but costly and taxing on the body. utterly adventurous though!

i left my dorm room on friday afternoon and i naturally didn't fit all my junk in the suitcase and backpack. guess i'll just have to throw away some more stuff before i leave canada. took the bus to eric's place (my temporary stay), which was stupid and i'd have avoided carrying all my luggage eight blocks had i taken a cab. at eric's place, i was greeted by two chinese fighting dogs and their owner, sarah. the bad news: eric and sarah don't like each other, so sarah is being a hard-ass about me staying there. oh, and the chinese fighting dogs don't like me either. never before in my life have i seen such ugly animals! and they're aggressive as hell. luckily they tear each other up instead of me ;-).

friday night was packed with two concerts and the splendid sugar refinery (pub) in downtown vancouver. all i can say about the weezer concert is: THEY ROCK! we were in the seated area, which didn't matter at all as everybody was up and dancing. they ended the concert on only in dreams, just like back in 1995 when i saw them last. was quite a trip down memory lane as well. a good trip. i tie some pretty fun, crazy and intense memories to their songs. after that we headed for the sugar refinery and listened to some free jazz while emptying a pitcher of stout. very cool bar!

and it got late. i had to call eddy at 7am on saturday to cancel my trip to squamish and the planned hiking/climbing. but the weather was sooooo good! so i packed my small backpack and walked to stanley park. i finally walked the seawall! and on a sunny day too (hi nadja, anja and markus ;-). it was gorgeous! hendrik was climbing in squamish, so i didn't have his camera on me. bummer. it's all stored away in my mind. i went to a mayday party that evening, so i had already packed all my overnight stuff when i left eric's place in the morning. i'm still wearing the clothes i put on yesterday. great. the party was on 2nd and alma, which is where i passed out at their last two parties. and i wouldn't want to break the tradition now, would i? when i woke up on the couch (around noon), i saw that eddy had also decided to pass out and sleep there (on the other couch that is), so at least i wasn't the only one ;-) we went for a big, delicious brunch in the sun and now i'm back in the computer lab updating this page. tired. all this rambling is starting to get to me. think i'll take a nap on the couch here right now.

tomorrow we start renovating the new house so we can all move in on wednesday. i'm guessing we'll have a phone there soon and i'll post the number on this webpage so i'm reachable again. we are granted one more mellow monday tomorrow, after that it's goodbye to koerners pub. leslie and paula are coming back from victoria (on vancouver island) for the event and pretty much everybody else i know will join, as tomorrow is the final deadline for a course project most of my buddies here are taking. they'll be in celebrating mood! i wonder where i'll crash that night. man, i'm really looking forward to moving into the new house!

but now it's regeneration time. sleep on the lab couch. better than nothing, i'd say. don't know when i'll be back in the lab yet, but probably not before thursday. next update and the adventures of tackling the new house then. seeya.

wednesday, april 24th 2002, 11pm

kudos to hendrik! he already got the beach shots from yesterday evening off his digital camera and burnt them to cd for me. what a great reason to abandon work ;-) no blazing sunshine today, so i had initially planned to work a bit more. silly me. instead, i downloaded this super-complicated and hard-to-use software for panorama stitching. many, many hours later, the !@#$% software actually produced some halfway decent results (well, sort of), given that i messed the exposure times up. so you see the seams, big deal. it'll get better next time, and the panorama effect is still cool, i'd say. but see for yourself.

and here the second attempt at a panorama, which worked a bit better than the pretty badly warped image above. yeah, i was there and can't really judge on this, but this one really does a good job of conveying the atmosphere (if you forget the seams ;-).

hmmmm. what a great afternoon! too bad the weather wasn't on my side today. if i had been smart, i'd have started getting my room de-junked. i'm still not really dealing with leaving my room in only two days, but it's catching up fast. tomorrow is clean-up-and-pack-my-stuff day. i'm not thrilled. i'll have to throw away and give away a lot of my things. makes me realize how much it must have sucked for my parents to move back and forth between the usa and germany every three years (lucky for me, this was long before i was born when my dad was still in the air force).

i need some sleep. we played quake3 all night. but: eddy just called and it looks like we'll be playing some more. no sleep for me yet. oh well, i surely don't need brains to clean out my apartment tomorrow. might actually help to be a bit braindead. and fun with the gang here is more important than sleep. next update soon. things are happening fast these days.

tuesday, april 23rd 2002, 11pm

done! my animation project is over, yes! i gave a demo to michiel (the prof.) yesterday and he liked it. cool. i'm all happy ;-) and for all you out there who are geeky enough to think animating smoke with a computer is cool (i do), check out my projects page for six more mpeg videos taken from my project report. so i still have one more course project, but as mentioned earlier, it has no deadline. the weather here is gorgeous, so it looks like i'll be doing most of it back home this summer (or fall, or winter.. ;-). we shall see. the big outdoors has top priority at the moment. and i'm getting really good at hackysack.

anyway, i suddenly have even more time to keep up my slacker lifestyle now, so i even read the newspaper (!), shocking, i'd say. not surprisingly, the more trivial things catch my attention. trivial, yet hilarious! so check out this great job advert i scanned from the wanted section of the local vancouver paper (no, this is not a joke. it was right in there with all the more serious job offers).

so if all this studying mumbo-jumbo leads me nowhere, i know there's always great and challenging alternatives. but enough of that, more news: anand, my guitar god and good friend is having an exciting life these days (to say the least). first, i get an email from him a few weeks ago, letting me know where to be at 12pm on the 23rd of august 2002. darmstaedter hochzeitsturm! him and elly are getting married! congratulations man! and good luck to you. i'll be there to celebrate, that is if i don't break my neck on any of the upcoming crazy-ass hiking and climbing tours. but if i'm there (just kidding i will be there), i'll party hard! anyway, today anand wrote in my guestbook, letting me know that the gig with his new band an cat dubh didn't go too well, as he fell of the 1.5 meter stage and broke his arm! before the concert. what a bummer! hope you get well soon. wouldn't want to see you miss the guitar playing! and we have to jam again as well.

speaking of guestbook. i haven't been good lately in keeping contact, have i? sorry about that. i'll soon (very soon) continue commenting on the guestbook entries and also catch up on some phone calls and emails (this one goes out to jennifer, ryan, loni and pete).

and on we go: the project was more or less done on sunday afternoon, so (as planned) eddy, paula, leslie, jackie, diana, josefina, jimena, hendrik and i dropped by the alibi room on the outskirts of gastown to see the spoken word, hosted by malcolm 'theo huxtable' jamal warner (yes, 'theo' from the cosby show). due to the prominent host, all the really good local and not-so-local poets were there and we were in for a treat. There's this guy shane, whose poetry can only be described as very inspiring. he got standing ovations and he deserved them. but mr. jamal warner was also much better than i expected. very intense. great atmosphere. now on to the funny part of the evening: sometime halfway through the spoken word session, i notice this blonde girl checking me out. your standard bimbo: big chested goldilocks (yes, i'm being rude here ;-). shortly thereafter, this unshaven baseball cap starts patting her bum, and i just think what a rude bastard! then he starts walking around the bar and passes me, after which i just thought that i've seen this guy before. the night moves on, and he's hugging everybody in the room, shaking hands and passing on fake smiles. a sleaze ball, to say the least. then this guy comes up to him and says: "hey luke, how's it going?". that's when i realized it was luke "beverly hills 90210 sleaze ball" perry. fact one: he's small, at least 10cm smaller than me. fact two: he's just as much of a sleaze ball in real life (what a surprise). i was trapped in a vancouverite sitcom! after the night passed, eddy and i talked about the whole hollywood-hug-hug situation. eddy said, that if i were as popular as luke perry, i'd probably do the same, to which i responded "what? f..k bimbos?". we had good fun ;-)

all weekend long, moving trucks have been taking people away from fairview and the place is really getting empty. time to leave this joint and move on to new grounds, which is what i'll do on friday. won't have a phone after that. well, at least until we get settled in the new house on may 1st. so this last week will be spent with people leaving and who i will probably not see so soon again, if ever. yesterday was josefina's birthday, we hit koerners, drank lots of beer and had a jam session till 5am at leslies place thereafter. today was sleep long (till 3pm) and play hackysack in the sun. until 6pm, then i headed off to wreck beach and enjoyed the sunset while listening to rufus wainwright. how relaxed that was. i took lots of pictures which will be up here soonest. ah yes, sunsets on the beach. more of those to come before i take off.

the others here in the lab are up for some fun and games (no drinks today ;-) so i'll sign off for now. i'm actually switching back to vacation mode and it feels great! time for the long wave goodbye. i'll keep you all informed, and there'll be lots of pictures! so many parties coming up. every weekend is fully booked. and some more whistler days as well. wouldn't want to leave without some more boarding. before i forget: for all you weezer fans out there, they have four new mp3's posted on their webpage. looking forward to the concert on friday.

but there's more underway until then. like cleaning and packing (pffff). and some more sunsets. gooooood! bye.

friday, april 19th 2002, 1am

1am. project phase? i don't really think so. my personal deadline for the animation project has moved to next monday ;-) last monday night was a looooong one! charlotta (my roommate) left for sweden on tuesday and we had to make sure her last night in vancouver would be one to remember. i think it worked just fine. we started dinner at 7pm, followed by a mellow monday at koerners pub. after i was already doing pretty good on the wine and beer, eddy and i still played three songs and i thought they went quite alright. but that could also be my skewed perception at the time. we didn't sleep much that night, still stayed up listening to tom waits and chatting away. i finally dropped dead at 7am after talking on the phone. so tuesday was more or less lost ;-) big deal, it was worth it.

so i got some of my work here done on wednesday, but the two weeks of rain finally came to an end and the sun welcomed us to go outside and read. on top of that, james invited us all over to his 'i-can-see-all-of-vancouver' party patio where we had a barbecue, a jam session and a really incredible view of all of downtown, stanley park and the north shore mountains. hendrik and i biked it and got back home at 4am, after consuming some things and being very hungry thereafter ;-)

more sunshine today, all day. clear blue skies. sushi dinner in the sun. no work. personal deadline moved by one more day. i'm not worried. and to top it all off, i'm going to get to see a weezer concert next friday! YES!

life is good.

monday, april 15th 2002, 2am

2am. project phase. the usual grind. i'm making good progress though, which is why i haven't had anything of greater interest to post here lately. well, my wish for crap weather during the project phase was miraculously granted and it has now rained for six days straight! baehhh! what else to do but wrap up my last uni projects here. i've been working on some animation stuff with smoke and fluids. it's not completely done yet and i still have to write the report by next friday, but here's a short six second, 250kb mpeg video of the animation system (click image to download movie).

it's fun to work on, but i'll be even more enthusiastic when i've finished it. so much more cool stuff to do and i am left with exactly one month to stuff it all into. interesting times ahead!

eddy and i performed at last weeks mellow monday and played our seven song set, consisting of the man who sold the world (david bowie), one man guy (rufus wainwright, a candian bard), good riddance (green day), lucky (radiohead), mama don't smoke (bran van 3000), i will survive (the cake version) and an acapella version of funky monks (red hot chili peppers). i wasn't sick this time around and we had good fun up there and even got a beer for free (woohoo). this monday (well, later today) will probably be the last mellow monday this term, so if i go (and i will) i will not have missed a single one all semester. good on me!

but first, sleeptime!

monday, april 8th 2002, 7pm

monday. with all courses over and a party weekend behind me i am finally starting some serious work on my course projects. but the weather was gorgeous today, so part of the day was spent in the sun reading (fiction, that is), playing hackysack and of course getting this update on the webpage.

i had my last presentation on friday morning (the one that took me almost two weeks to prepare due to excessive laziness ;) and it went pretty good. good enough to party hard at this years arts county fair. it was pouring down rain most of the day, which was a bit sad given the sunshine we had all week before. solution: drink + don't pay attention to the rain + dance + dance + dance. it worked really well! to prevent being bored while standing in the lineups for drinks, eddy played irish songs on his flute to which the rest of us danced. in the rain and mud. it was fuuuuuun! the day started off with drinking games in my apartment at 1.30pm. therefore, the night ended quite early.

saturday was full day rest and relaxation. some guitar playing, but mostly sleep. verena had a birthday party in the evening and i managed to decimate the leftover gin pretty well. but there's still some left. darn! i convinced eric to stay longer than planned and we enjoyed some of his glenlivet scotch while indulging in beck's excellent album odelay. i haven't listened to this in years and it's great! so most of the time after midnight was spent once again discussing the top ten albums of the 90's. we have a consensus on most of the albums, including nirvana's nevermind, nine inch nails the downward spiral, pearl jam's ten and a few more in the list. i'll post the final vote once we have it set. surprisingly, we are mostly of the same opinion, even though our musical tastes are quite different these days.

paula brought her pictures from various events along to the party. some nice ones. me and eddy, drunk again ;-) but some other (perhaps not so drunk) people as well. i don't think i've had a shot of chris on this site yet. he's a german who has been away from home so long you can really hear it in his german voice. a really nice guy. he'll be holding a jam session at his cozy place this coming wednesday.

ah yes, drinking beer out of pitchers. some more good news: all i have left workwise are two course projects for my animation and graphics courses. the good thing: i have no serious deadlines! so my plan is to get the animation project done by the 19th of april and start on the graphics project thereafter, but finalize the report and program back home during the summer. that way i'll have more vacation time before i come back. and frank is planning to buy a van to travel down the west coast of the usa. i might join. we'll see.

even more good news: eddy, eric, hendrik and dave found a beautiful house from may 1st on! cooool! that's where i'll have my home base for the last two weeks of my stay, as my residence here on campus terminates on april 26th. eric lives around the corner from the new place and it looks like i'll be moving in with him for a few days until we get all our stuff to the new place. isn't it great how some things simply fall into place? i like it. it'll be good. here a first impression.

eddy and i are scheduled to play at koerners tonight, but i haven't had any luck at getting in touch with him yet. will try to get him now. only two more mondays at koerners pub left and i'd love to play some more before moving off campus. also, i still have a free evening of drinks coming to me as firas hasn't payed off his bets yet. goooood. if he's there this time that is. bye.

thursday, april 4th 2002, 8pm

massive picture update! just finished my presentation for tomorrow (which i had planned to get done by last sunday) and now have time to update this place. that is until eddy picks me up here in the lab to go for sushi the fourth time this week!

nadja responded super-fast to my previous request, so here are some more shots of their visit to vancouver. nadja and me on the mountain and the giant 'nobody-has-eaten-them-all' nacho plate at merlin's bar and grill apres-ski. we got really lucky with the weather, it had rained the days before. nadja's big smile says it all. take a look.

on our way home from whistler, josti and i sat on the back seat of the car and got pretty drunk. actually we already got a head start during apres-ski. this lead us to the belief that our singing qualities would be greatly enhanced and we started screaming elton john's your song off the moulin rouge soundtrack, while the cd was playing of course. anja and nadja must have put that song on repeat, so we ended up singing it from squamish all the way over the lions gate bridge! hihi. what a memory.

then they left, and i got sick. but i didn't miss eddy's birthday that following monday. even though i do look a bit sick on the pictures, i think ;) but beer can compensate, and it did! and we even have a nice shot of us singing together. cooool! i think that night cost me a few more days of productive work, as it comletely knocked me out of my socks, just as the flu was starting to get a bit better. oh well, friends are worth it.

only four days later (no work done) hendrik, mona, eddy and i rented a car and head off for whistler. and even though we were all tired as hell, the visibility sucked and it hadn't really snowed in days, we still had fun. eddy and i raced through the fog. pretty crazy actually. but there were patches of good visibility, so it was all good. at days end: apres-ski at merlin's. and some more nacho's. and some more pictures ;-)

the car ride home turned out to be annoying as hell. a policecar tried a u-turn on the narrow highway and got smacked by a greyhound bus. roads closed for four hours. so we stood in the traffic jam, four people in the car, all of us with gear. way too tight to relax. but we listened to some bjork and tool and eventually made it home at 10.30pm. i crashed immediately, had work to do the next day, which i ended up not doing. surprise. had to prepare for our irish night out ;)

eddy just posted some older shots on his webpage recently, so i'll merge them with this update while i'm at it. well, they're not all old. our sushi dinner about a month ago, me and paula getting the munchies after some goodies, the snowstorm and a st. patricks day impression of leslie and paula performing.

so after all this fun, 'mr. procrastination' (that's me) decided he could get his presentation for tomorrow done by last sunday. wishful thinking, i'd say. sunday was spent apathetic in front of a monitor, stupidly surfing the web. and from monday on the weather here as gone from good to great! i just couldn't spend the days in the lab. so i read in the sun monday, went to the beach on tuesday and then finally started that !@#$% presentation on wednesday. the sunset on the beach was absolutely stunning and i solemnly swore to get down there more often, it's only ten minutes away! but today was another sunny and warm day, so we started it off by playing some hackysack and toying around with eric's new camera. i tried to get some reading in, but i failed dreadfully. i simply like distraction too much!

10pm now. i got the presentation for tomorrow morning done, finally! after that, project phase starts, but not before monday. my graphics prof. actually offered us all summer to work on the course project and i feel very tempted to have fun now and work later. we shall see how these next three weeks work out. if the weather is great, i'll just have more work to do back home this summer. but it would be worth it, i'm sure. time will tell.

tomorrow is the last day of class for this term. yes! big celebration on campus. the arts county fair starts at noon and promises to be a biiiiig party! five canadian bands, all my canadian friends and lots of beer. should be good. if the weather holds that is. if not, well then i guess we'll have to make sure we have a good time anyhow ;) eddy and i have some biking planned for saturday, which is also weather dependent. verena is celebrating her 24th birthday saturday evening, which will get late for sure. more reason to get this update out tonight. i don't want to see a computer all weekend!

six more weeks and i'll be in the plane back home. that means it's time to rock and roll and make the most of it. you all keep on keepin' on. cheers!

tuesday, april 2nd 2002, 3pm

nadja emailed me the pictures today, cooooool! thanks for getting these memories to me so fast. and i know it wasn't easy ;-) i know i'll be itching to get these online all day, so i better do it before i start uni-work.

no pictures of the first nights available, but we got pretty wasted at the hotel on wednesday the 13th of march (the arrival day), slept in on thursday and then went to the rufus wainwright concert that evening (good stuff, as metioned earlier). friday it rained down on us and we spent the day driving around town and walking on the beach of stanley park in the rain, much to josti's dismay ;-) hey, i don't feel the rain anymore! in the evening we went for food and drinks with my whole vancouver clan. it got quite late, which we had tried to avoid as we were going to whistler early the next day. by early i mean 'get up at 5am'. i'm missing the pictures of whistler and the 'giant apres-ski-nacho plate' but am sure nadja will send them to me later, pleeeeease? so while josti and anja checked out whistler village, nadja and i had a sunny day on blackcomb mountain. and to quote nadja: 'best skiing EVER!'. she enjoyed it tremendously and it was a pleasure to be part of that experience. we passed out early that evening, after a hard day of riding, a sushi meal and a movie.

sunday. next episode: the water-plane flight over the city. the whole day started off with deep blue skies and sunshine and couldn't have been better! the flight was a surprise for anja's birthday, so she didn't have a clue yet. to make the story even more believeable, we had to find a reason to go to canada place (where the plane started from) instead of heading for the peak of grouse mountain. i bit the bullet and pretended i was meeting with some friends to see 'ice age' in the imax on canada place (like i'd do such a thing on a sunny day). but she believed it, even up to the very last minute before we got in the plane! but before the funride we visited the capilano suspension bridge and the base of grouse mountain.

good thing the price of the gondola up to the peak of grouse was 20 canadian dollars, otherwise anja might have decided to go up there instead of 'drop me off' at canada place. i must admit, having never flown in such small aircraft i was a bit nervous at first. but i wasn't the only one, josti was also about to shit his pants. the big male babies strike back! once we were off the water though, it was a complete blast! woohoo! but see for yourself. suprisingly, i didn't get any pictures from the pilots hands and/or lap though ;-). perhaps on the video? hehe.

sweet! the pics do an excellent job of conveying the impressions, but it was much more than just that. quick, come visit me as well and i'll fly with you too! anyway... that same evening we hit two irish pubs to celebrate st. patrick's day. anja, josti and nadja left a bit earlier as they had planned to go to vancouver island on monday. but they still got to see and hear leslie and paula play and sing songs like 'leaving on a jetplane' at the queens head pub. coooool! i stayed longer and got pretty wasted with eddy. still, eddy wasn't really pleased as the entire night lacked that irish feeling. we got back to that last weekend though, as mentioned in an earlier post.

the weather turned to rain on monday, so the three slept in instead of going to vancouver island and the rest of the day was spent chilling out, watching 'ice age' (cooool movie!) and having a few beers at the mellow monday at koerners. we all went to vancouver island on tuesday, but the weather simply wasn't on our side anymore. guess we used it all up on the weekend. but: what a great week! again, thanks to you all for coming and making it so much fun! as soon as i'm back, the four of us should go out for dinner and drinks and recap on the good times we had. agreed? more pictures:

eddy just sent me a link to even more pictures! aaaaarghh! i will never get to work if all i do is update this webpage. but the pictures on his site are from our jam at koerners, his birthday, the sushi night and more. will have to wait till i get that presentation for friday done. but first, it's tea time in the lounge. right now. more later.

5pm: you get what you ask for, right? it's a beautiful day outside once again, so i suggested we go to the beach to see the sunset. eddy, hendrik and dave agreed, so now we're going there a bit earlier to play hackysack on the beach during the sunset. result of this great idea of mine: personal deadline for fridays presentation is postponed till wednesday evening. i'm terrible. guess it's time to admit that currently, discipline is not one of my virtues. but i get to have fun on the beach instead, woohoo!

so i should at least simulate working for the next hour to trick my conscience into believing that i am making progress :) it's all good. more pictures to come tomorrow or thursday. ta ta.

monday, april 1st 2002, 7pm

the irish pub night on saturday was a blast! i'm sure eddy made up for the fact that the st. patrick's day celebration hadn't been at all what he expected. actually, i haven't talked to him since, but judging from my hangover on sunday i'm sure he wasn't doing much better either. i must have danced quite a bit, my t-shirt and hoodie were both still soaking wet the next day! and to stay in the tradition of burning money, it was a quite costly evening, with cover charge, drinks and the cab to get our drunken asses back to campus. all in all a complete success! and another fun memory with the posse here. i can't believe i am actually developing a taste for guiness. guess it's the mcnealen blood in me ;-)

mr. wiegand (aka oeli) sent me a slew of pictures today and as this keeps me from doing serious work, i thought i should post them immediately. is it just me, or has oeli lost even more weight? you sports nut! and on top of it, he's trying to get a job next winter as a trainer on a passenger ship. 4,5 months in the caribbean. how cool! missing the german winter seems like a smart thing to me, so good luck on getting it! anyway, on to the pictures.

so i have been lazy lately, even though i can't at all afford to be. have to get my two course projects done before i get thrown out of the student dorm on april 26th. i still don't know where i'll be staying after that. currently, eddy, dave, hendrik and eric are looking for a house, as they will also be without a roof from may 1st on. so here's hoping they find a cozy and cool place soon. otherwise it'll be the sofa in the graphics lab for me. i'm sort of broke and don't feel like paying money for a hostel. it's all looking a bit adventurous at this point. at least that way it feels like vacation coming up. some more interesting times ahead.

8pm. my day so far: get up at 10.30, phone with nadja for an hour, have an extensive breakfast, watch ds9 till 2pm, sit in the sun and read (at least something technical), dick around in the lab till 5pm, go for a six kilometer run, update this webpage and now i'm going for sushi with eric. ergo: no work at all done. nada. but the sun was shining all day and it would have been sinful to spend the day inside in front of a monitor. looks like i'm going to pull some all-nighters soon. oh well, a good trade off for beautiful sunshine i'd say. so, got to pick up eric and am hungry for delicious sushi. more later.

10pm: back from sushi. spicy tuna roll rocks! i'm still having some right now. hmmmm! too bad i have to start on that presentation for friday. i still have hal hartley's 'trust' from eric and would much rather toss that in the videorecorder, have some more sushi and just kick back. bummer. but right after my presentation on friday the annual arts county fair term-end party starts at noon. five canadian bands and lots of beer await. we're all going, which means no serious work possible on saturday. plus, verena is having a birthday party on saturday evening. no work sunday either. another reason to get to work now. so long, and don't work too hard ;-)

saturday, march 30th 2002, 3pm

urgh. need to work. quite impossible when the last months of life have been such a blast! eddy, hendrik, mona and i went to whistler once again yesterday and i am soooo spoiled from the experience of having such a cool resort within a two hour distance. anyone interested in making plans for the alps for next season? i will need it!

just dug up some old shots hendrik and i took last year. for some reason i hadn't posted them yet. better late than never. one is of the bus that takes us off this gorgeous yet ghetto-like campus (how exciting :) and one more great shot of the vancouverite sunset. that is, when the sun actually shines. and it does from time to time. especially in the spring and summer. ahhhh yes, summer. coming soon.

enough for today. nadja will be sending me the pictures from their vacation here next week and i'll get them posted pronto. will also keep me from working too much, how convenient :) that and the irish pub night with eddy and others later on. shouldn't i be working? naaaaa! will work now and earn the right to hit gastown later. i'll make sure to have a few pints on ye all! slainte!
